Course Description: Educational Technology has created a free blog space for all SBISD district employees. Anyone can create their own blog. The question is: HOW do you create and manage a blog using the My SBISD Blog Community?

Course Overview: This online tutorial is an introduction to blogging, WordPress, and the My SBISD Blog Community. In this tutorial, we will show you how to create and maintain a blog on the My SBISD Community Blog. Issues for teachers, administrators and district employees who wish to create a professional education blog, as well as teachers who want to blog WITH their students will be addressed.

Steps to Successful Completion of the Course:

Register in PDLC for course # 2894.5639
Return to this site and begin with the assignment for week one. You do not need to complete one assignment per week; you can work through and complete this course at your own pace.
After each week’s assignment, complete the required task(s), and post your responses/answers in the corresponding blog’s comment section.
After you have successfully completed the course (due date 5/30/08), you will be awarded attendance and 12 non-contract hours in PDLC.

Wow! I can’t believe how much learned in one sitting. The terms dashboard, backend, etc. are very helpful to know.

Yes…you can post pictures. This is shown in an upcoming tutorial (lesson 5). Very easy to do this and actually embed links to PDF files and Word Doc’s you’d like to upload as well.

Also, in the future (over the summer and next year) I will be offering another online tutorial similar to this one about podcasting. You can EASILY upload your MP3 file (podcast) and play it from inside your blog’s post. Easy peasy.
